Corel Corporation: CorelDRAW AI Features Updated on:
1. Introduction
CorelDRAW (the “Software”) offers generative AI-enabled features (“AI Features”) powered by third-party AI Models to support Users in generating, transforming, and enhancing visual content. This Policy explains how Users may use the AI Features, the limits on their use, relevant disclaimers, and Corel’s transparency and compliance practices. The AI Features are only available to Users who are 18 years of age or older. The AI Features and the Software are also governed by Corel’s End User License Agreement, available here (“EULA”) or Business User License Agreement, available here (“BULA”), depending on the edition and version of the Software purchased. All terms of the applicable license agreement continue to apply, including restrictions and indemnities. By using the AI Features, User agrees to this Policy.
2. Scope & Purpose
This Policy applies to all Users accessing AI Features within the Software. It covers:
the nature and use of the AI Features;
responsibilities of Users and Corel Corporation (“Corel” or “We”);
prohibited uses;
transparency and compliance requirements under applicable laws;
disclaimers and liability limits; and
data privacy, IP, and user rights.
The goal is to ensure safe, responsible and transparent use of the AI Features and to promote responsible creative use. Users acknowledge that Corel’s role is limited to integrating and providing access to third-party AI Models within the Software, and Corel does not control or guarantee the behavior of the AI Models themselves.
3. Definitions
AI Model: A machine-learning or generative model provided by a Third-Party AI Model Provider and integrated into the Software for User access.
Output: Any content (image, graphic, text, transformation) generated or modified by an AI Model in response to User input.
Personal Data: Any information that identifies or could reasonably be used to identify an individual, directly or indirectly, as further described in Corel’s Privacy Statement available here.
Third-Party AI Model Provider: The external entity which created or supplies the AI Model integrated into the Software.
User: A licensee or authorized user of the Software who uses the AI Features.
4. Transparency & Explainability
4.1 Notice
When a User first uses an AI Feature, they will be informed, through the Software or related documentation, that the feature uses an AI Model. This notice is provided once per AI Feature, unless required again by applicable law or if the AI Feature or the underlying AI Model undergoes a material change.
4.2 Capabilities & Limitations
AI Features can generate or transform visual content based on User input.
The quality and appropriateness of the Output depend on User input, the model’s training data and its algorithmic architecture.
Outputs may contain artefacts, inaccuracies, or biases, and may include elements derived from third-party content.
Outputs are provided “AS-IS”. Users are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying it for accuracy, suitability, and compliance with applicable laws before use.
Users should not assume that Outputs are original or free from third-party intellectual property claims. Users are responsible for clearance of any third-party content that may be present in Outputs. Corel does not verify, endorse, or guarantee that AI-generated content is free of third-party rights or suitable for commercial use
4.3 Third-Party Model Disclosure
The AI Models are supplied under license from Third-Party AI Model Providers. Corel acts as a downstream integrator (“downstream provider” or “deployer”) of these AI Models in the Software. Corel does not operate, control, or monitor the AI Models themselves.
To the extent permitted by the Third-Party AI Model Provider, Corel may, where available and appropriate, provide Users (upon request) with summary information made available by the Third-Party AI Model Provider, including information about training data or known limitations. Corel does not create or maintain conformity documentation for the AI Models.
Use of the AI Models is subject to usage restrictions, acceptable use policies, and other requirements imposed by the applicable Third-Party AI Model Providers (“Third-Party AI Model Terms”). Use of the AI Features is conditioned on the User’s compliance with all applicable Third-Party AI Model Terms, as updated from time to time. Corel does not control the content or frequency of updates to such Third-Party AI Model Terms and is not responsible for changes made by Third-Party AI Model Providers.
4.4 Logging, Audit & Traceability
Use of AI Features may be logged (e.g., timestamps, input metadata) to support debugging, safety, and compliance.
4.5 Human Oversight
AI Features are assistive tools and not a substitute for human judgment. Users must supervise and assess all Outputs before use. Inaccuracies, biases, or inappropriate content must be corrected or discarded as appropriate.
5. Prohibitions (What You Must Not Do)
In addition to the Software restrictions in the EULA and BULA, Users agree not to use the AI Features to:
create or distribute illegal, defamatory, obscene, hateful, violent, sexually explicit or discriminatory content;
engage in prohibited “high-risk” uses under the EU AI Act (e.g., biometric identification, social scoring);
deceptively create or alter content (e.g., “deepfakes”) without required disclosure;
infringe or misappropriate third-party intellectual property rights (for example, prompting to copy a copyrighted work without license);
deploy Outputs in regulated or safety-critical applications without authorization;
modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, extract, or replicate the AI Models;
download, self-host, modify, or create derivative versions of any AI Model integrated into the Software;
circumvent any restrictions, filters or usage limits implemented within the Software;
use the AI Features in any embargoed or restricted jurisdiction, or by any sanctioned individuals or entities, or for purposes prohibited under export control or national security laws (including development of weapons, harmful biological agents, or surveillance tools); or
misuse, disable, or interfere with any safety mechanisms in the Software.
6. User Responsibilities
Users must:
confirm that they are at least 18 years of age and otherwise eligible to use the AI Features under this Policy, the EULA, or the BULA, as applicable;
provide lawful and appropriate inputs;
review Outputs for suitability, accuracy, bias, IP, and ethical implications;
use Outputs lawfully and responsibly;
comply with all applicable laws, export control, sanctions, or trade restriction laws when using AI Features, including restrictions on certain jurisdictions, entities, or individuals;
ensure they have appropriate rights and licenses for any commercial or published use;
not enter or process Personal Data in the AI Features;
comply with all applicable Third-Party AI Model Terms governing the AI Models made available through the AI Features, as updated from time to time; and
report any errors, biases, illicit uses, or ethical issues encountered as described in Section 9A below.
Users may not use the AI Features in violation of export control, sanctions, or dual-use regulations, and acknowledge that certain uses may be restricted or prohibited under national-security frameworks.
Outputs are autonomously generated and may not reflect User intent. Users acknowledge that Corel has limited control over Outputs and that Users are solely responsible for verifying Outputs before relying on or distributing them.
7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
AI Features and Outputs are provided “AS-IS” and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied (including fitness for purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement).
While Corel endeavors to integrate and maintain the third-party AI Models in good faith, it does not guarantee that the Outputs will be error-free, patent/copyright-safe, or free of bias or unintended consequences.
Corel does not operate, monitor, or control third-party AI Models, and Users acknowledge that Corel is not responsible for the behavior or legality of Outputs generated by those models.
Violation of applicable Third-Party AI Model Terms may result in suspension, limitation or termination of access to some or all AI Features, without liability to Corel to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Corel and Third-Party AI Model Providers may modify, update, or discontinue the AI Models and/or AI Features at any time without notice. No guarantee is made regarding quality, uptime, stability, or performance.
Use of the AI Features is at the User’s own risk. Corel (and its affiliates, licensors and Third-Party AI Model Providers) shall not be liable for any direct or indirect losses, damages or costs arising from Users’ use of the AI Features or Output, except to the extent that liability cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Where applicable, national mandatory liability rules may still apply and nothing in this Policy is intended to restrict those rights.
For clarity, unless expressly stated otherwise, User inputs and Outputs transmitted to Third-Party AI Model Providers are not used to train or improve the underlying AI Models, except as required for safety, debugging, security, or compliance with law.
8. Intellectual Property & Rights of Use
Users retain ownership of their input content.
Users are granted a license to use the Output consistent with the terms of the EULA or BULA, as applicable.
Because AI generation is probabilistic, Outputs may not be unique or free from third-party claims. Users should perform independent rights clearance before commercial use.
Users represent and warrant that their inputs do not infringe any rights and that their use of Outputs complies with law.
Users agree to indemnify Corel in accordance with the indemnity provisions set forth in the applicable EULA or BULA for any third-party claim that arises from or relates to their use or misuse of the AI Features or Output, their failure to comply with this Policy, or their failure to comply with any applicable Third-Party AI Model Terms.
Corel and the Third-Party AI Model Providers retain all rights not expressly granted.
9. Data Handling, Privacy & Security
Users shall not enter Personal Data or any information that could identify an individual into the AI Features. Input (for example, prompts or images) may be transmitted to and processed by the Third-Party AI Model Provider in accordance with Corel’s Privacy Statement, available here. Such inputs and Outputs are processed only to operate the AI Features and are not used by Corel or the Third-Party AI Model Provider for model training or improvement, unless required for safety, abuse prevention, security, debugging, or compliance with applicable law.
Users are solely responsible for ensuring that any information entered into the AI Features complies with applicable laws and does not include Personal Data.
Corel applies reasonable security measures (e.g. access controls, encryption, logging) designed to protect the AI Features, Corel’s integration environment, and related data within Corel’s control.
9A. Reporting Inappropriate or Harmful AI Outputs
Third-Party AI Model Providers apply pre-training filtering and safety measures designed to reduce the likelihood of illegal, obscene, or otherwise harmful content. Corel does not control or operate those filtering systems and does not actively monitor Outputs.
Because AI Models may still occasionally produce unexpected or inappropriate results, we rely on user feedback to help identify and address potential issues.
If a User encounters any Output that:
appears illegal, obscene, hateful, racist, sexually explicit, or otherwise violates law or this policy; or
could pose a risk of harm, infringe third-party rights, or breach ethical or community standards;
The feature or prompt used and the AI Model utilized; and
A screenshot or example of the Output (if lawful to share).
Upon receiving a report, Corel may review or escalate the issue to the Third-Party AI Model Provider, and, where appropriate, temporarily disable or restrict access to the relevant AI Feature. Reported information (such as error reports or safety-related feedback) may be shared with the Third-Party AI Model Provider to support the Third-Party AI Model Provider’s applicable post-market monitoring and risk-management obligations under the EU AI Act. Corel may also use this information to improve guidance and promote responsible use of the AI Features.
Users acknowledge that Corel does not guarantee prevention or removal of inappropriate or unlawful Outputs and relies on User reporting to support safety and compliance efforts.
10. Governance, Compliance & Audit
Corel has implemented internal governance procedures to monitor the AI Features, including user reporting mechanisms and periodic testing.
We periodically assess model integration and user feedback.
Corel may also implement usage limits, rate limits, cost controls, filtering mechanisms, or other technical restrictions to maintain system integrity and comply with safety and legal requirements.
If an AI Model is updated or discontinued, Corel may provide updated information to Users.
If any AI Model falls under a “high-risk” category, Corel will rely on the conformity assessment and monitoring conducted by the Third-Party AI Model Provider, as required under the EU AI Act.
11. Amendments & Versioning
Corel may update this Policy periodically to reflect changes in technology, applicable laws, or our AI practices. Updated versions will be posted on our website. Continued use of AI Features after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
