Easily adjust your photos

Ideal for first-time users who want to apply basic photo enhancements, ExpressFix presents various options to fix images through a simple yet intuitive user interface.

To get you started, you may try to open one of the samples included in your PhotoImpact program. In this tutorial, we will use Underexposed.jpg. You can also find this image in this folder:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Ulead Photoimpact X3\Samples\Photo Correction

Using Dual View

When you have opened an image file you want to edit, you will notice in the Dual View tab that both images are identical. This is because we have not added enhancements to the image yet.

Once we add enhancement presets, you will see the differences between the left and the right images. For easier comparison, Dual View combines both the Before View (original version) and the After View (modified version) in one window.

To apply enhancement presets on an image:

You can start by identifying the problem in your image and the effect you want to achieve.

Going back to our sample image, you will notice that the image presents an under-exposure problem. To fix this problem, we will need to add more light.

1. In the ExpressFix Panel, click SmartCurves to correct lighting problems by applying a camera curve to your image.

2. Since SmartCurves made the image brighter, visible image noise can now be seen. To remove this, click Reduce Noise.

3. If you still find the color unnatural, click White Balance to restore the natural color temperature of the image.

4. Click Overall Exposure to add more light to the image by adjusting the brightness and contrast of the entire image. Select a preset or click Customize to manually adjust Brightness and Contrast.

Depending on the effects you want to achieve, you can select other enhancement presets and customize their settings to suit your taste. ExpressFix also offers other effects you can apply by selecting Effect on the Menu Bar.
