Creating a movie from a painting session
The Internet is a great venue for displaying your Corel® Painter™ X paintings and drawings, but did you know you can show the world more than just the end result of your work? You can easily record a painting session as a script and convert it to a movie, which you can upload to an online video sharing Web site.
There are three easy steps to creating a movie of your painting session:
- recording a script of your work
- replaying the scripted session into a movie
- saving the movie to a Web-compatible format. In this tip, you'll save to the QuickTime® format.
To record a painting session as a script
- Choose Window menu > Show Scripts to open the Scripts palette.
- On the Scripts palette, click the palette menu arrow, and choose Script Options.
- In the Script Options dialog box, enable the Record Initial State option.
- Click the Record button
.
The Record button glows red during the recording process. - Draw, paint, or use any features and effects that you want to record.
- When you're finished painting or drawing, click the Stop button
.
- In the Script Name dialog box, type a name, and click OK.
Corel Painter automatically adds an icon for the script in the Script Selector.
To replay a script into a movie
- On the Scripts palette, click the Script Selector arrow and choose a script.
- Create a new image at the size you want the movie to be.
- On the Scripts palette, click the palette menu arrow, and choose Script Options.
- In the Script Options dialog box, enable the Save Frames on Playback option.
This is the option that directs Corel Painter to create a movie on playback. - Choose how many tenths of a second you want between frames.
The lower the number, the more frequently a frame is created and results in a more fluid movie. More frames, however, use more disk space. - On the Scripts palette, click the Play button
.
- In the Enter Movie Name dialog box, type a name, choose a destination folder, and click Save.
- In the New Frame Stack dialog box, choose the number of layers of onion skin and the storage type you want.
Corel Painter plays the script into the Frame Stacks dialog box.
To save the movie to the QuickTime® format
- Choose File menu > Save as.
- In the Save Movie dialog box, enable the Save movie as QuickTime option.
- In the Enter Movie Name dialog box, type a name in the Filename box, and click Save.
- In the Compression Settings dialog box, choose a compression method from the pop-up menu.
For more information about compression settings, see "Exporting Movies as QuickTime Movies" in the Help.
