WordPerfect® 12
The cornerstone of the new suite is WordPerfect 12. This legendary word processor has all the tools necessary to create everything from basic documents, such as letters, faxes, and reports to complex marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, and newsletters. Hiring an outside design agency is expensive and impersonal. With WordPerfect 12, you can produce your marketing materials in-house, saving thousands of dollars and delivering a more personal "look and feel."
You and your staff can count on a high-level of support as you master the many features of WordPerfect. Beginning users can take advantage of the step-by-step guidance of the PerfectExpert™ (see Figure 1), which leads you through the completion of a task. Intermediate users will appreciate how easily they can control document layout by using the Reveal Codes feature, which gives you a "behind the scenes" look at a document and allows you to quickly adjust or remove formatting. One of the greatest strengths of WordPerfect Office 12 products is that you can open, edit, and save files in Microsoft® Office formats (including version 2003). This ensures that you can share your files with clients and customers that may be using other office productivity software. In fact, WordPerfect 12 can open files in Microsoft® Word format, all the way back to Word 1.0. That's more than Microsoft Word can do! In addition, if some of your users are already familiar with Microsoft Word, you can use the Workspace Manager to switch to an interface that resembles the Word interface (menus, save file formats, keyboard shortcuts).
With the new Compatibility toolbar (available in WordPerfect, Quattro Pro and Presentations) you can save files as Word, Microsoft® Excel, or Microsoft® PowerPoint® formats (respectively) with just one click. The Compatibility toolbar also gives you the option of publishing your documents and presentations (in Presentations 12) to PDF format with the robust Publish to PDF feature. This single feature eliminates the need to purchase additional PDF authoring software, such as Adobe® Acrobat® Distiller®.
Quattro Pro® 12
Quattro Pro is an easy-to-use, intuitive, full-featured spreadsheet application that stands toe-to-toe with Microsoft Excel. With the ability to handle over 1,000,000 rows (compared to 65,536 in Microsoft Excel), Quattro Pro is powerful enough for your most complex projects. Figure 2 shows a Vendor Cost Analysis form (included in the Business Essentials solution pack) open in Quattro Pro.

The key to managing company finances and making sound business decisions is being able to capture and interpret your data. Quattro Pro makes it easy for you to record information and then examine it in a variety of ways. For example, the CrossTab Reports feature (comparable to the Pivot Table feature in Microsoft Excel) analyzes your data and organizes it into useful summaries. The Chart Expert takes you step-by-step through the creation of a chart that best suits your data. The resulting CrossTab report provides a clear visual representation of the data.
Quattro Pro 12 continues the long-standing tradition of close compatibility between Quattro Pro and Excel. Files can be exchanged freely between the two applications. Quattro Pro will open and save files in Microsoft Excel versions 5, 7, 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003, so even if you are working with legacy Excel files, you'll be able to open them in Quattro Pro. Furthermore, if your staff has some background in Microsoft Excel, you can use the Workspace Manager to switch to an interface that resembles the Excel interface (menus, save file formats, and keyboard shortcuts).
Presentations® 12
Presentations is a slide-show application similar in nature to Microsoft PowerPoint. Presentations has the tools that you need to create slide shows and other presentation materials. You'll be able to create everything from simple flyers, banners, and signs to interactive demonstrations and multimedia presentations. The WordPerfect Office 12 – Small Business Edition included over 15 new presentation masters (see Figure 3) to get you started quickly.

To ensure you can collaborate with people who may not be using Presentations, you can open, edit, and save slide shows that were created in Microsoft PowerPoint. (Presentations can open Microsoft PowerPoint versions 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 7.0, 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003 files.) In fact, if you or your employees are already familiar with PowerPoint, you can use the Workspace Manager to switch to an interface that closely resembles it (menus, save file formats, keyboard shortcuts).
Presentations also includes a powerful Bitmap Editor that lets you apply a range of special effects to bitmap images, and the self-contained presentation technology Show on the Go™ which ensures that any PC user can view your presentation, even if they don't have Presentations installed on their computer.
The Task Manager
WordPerfect Office 12 – Small Business Edition includes a Task Manager, which acts as the launch pad for the suite's applications. From the Task Manager, you can start applications, select a specific task (see Figure 4), open recent files, access online services, view tips and tricks, and get help.

WordPerfect Office 12 – Small Business Edition provides a large collection of templates that you can use to generate a comprehensive business plan and many other essential business documents. The templates are grouped into categories (Business Planning, Marketing Materials, Sales Tools, Financial Tools, Planning Resources, and Stationery) on the Tasks tab of the Task Manager.
When you select a project, the Task Manager launches WordPerfect, Quattro Pro, or Presentations, and opens the template associated with the project that you have chosen. The design and formatting work is already done, so all you have to do is fill in the blanks.
WordPerfect® Mail
The new WordPerfect Mail (see Figure 5) has all the tools you need to communicate with your employees and clients, keep track of schedules, and maintain valuable contact information. WordPerfect Mail distinguishes itself from other e-mail applications with a powerful search capability that quickly locates messages, contacts, documents, and calendar entries. It works just like an Internet search engine and it's just as fast.

WordPerfect Mail also incorporates a world-class spam blocker to reduce productivity losses associated with unsolicited email and other costly intrusions. A calendar feature lets you quickly view and schedule events and a contact manager helps you maintain your valuable contact information. During the installation, you'll have the option of importing Outlook® contacts, e-mail messages and calendar events so the transition is completely painless and only takes a few minutes. If you choose yes, your existing e-mail account information is transferred over automatically so you can quickly start using WordPerfect Mail.
Paint Shop™ Pro® 9
Whether it's a photo, graphic, or digital art, Paint Shop Pro 9 is going to help you get that vision out of your head and onto the screen. This latest version of Paint Shop Pro (see Figure 6) continues to set the standard for affordable, professional image editing with art media features, outstanding photo-editing tools, and precision graphic design capabilities.
