How to Anchor a Picture with WordPerfect X3

When you insert a picture into a WordPerfect® document, you have several options for anchoring the picture. Anchoring keeps the picture near or with a specific page, paragraph, or character. This means that if the paragraph or character move to a different page, the picture will move with it.

By default, WordPerfect will anchor an inserted picture to a paragraph. You can easily choose a different anchor point, and you can adjust the position of the anchor on the page.

To insert a picture

  1. In WordPerfect X3, click where you want to insert a picture.

  2. Choose Insert > Graphics > From File.

  3. In the Insert Image dialog box, locate the picture you want to insert and click Insert.

If necessary, you can adjust the size of the inserted picture by clicking to select the picture, and then dragging one of the corner handles.

To adjust the picture's anchor

  1. Right-click an inserted picture, and choose Edit Box from the pop-up menu.

  1. In the Attach to area of the Edit Box dialog box, choose one of the following anchor positions:

    • Page – the picture moves with the page
    • Paragraph – the picture moves with the paragraph
    • Character – the picture moves with the words in a line of text

  2. Click the Position button.

  3. In the Box Position dialog box, adjust the settings until you are satisfied with the result and click OK.

Note: Depending on which anchor position you choose, WordPerfect gives you different controls for adjusting the anchor's position (as shown below).
