300 Vacation Photos Saved by One Step Photo Fix

When Marty Watkins and his family traveled to England in February 2003, he returned from his weeklong voyage with more than 300 photos.

"It had been a dream of mine to travel abroad for more years than I can remember," Marty said. "I used my digital camera to capture all the wonderful sites and things I saw."

“Paint Shop Pro is the easiest, so I stick with it. I like it because I can just jump right in and do what I need.”

Upon returning home to North Chili, New York, Marty went to work getting his 300 photos in order and fixing up the ones that weren't too clear or were too dark.

"A lot of the photos came out kind of dark," Marty said, "I'm by no means a picture guru. But I tried a few things using the software that came with my digital camera, but I wasn't pleased with the results. So I decided to leave the photos the way they were from my camera."

But that wasn't the end. Shortly after returning from his vacation, Marty got an e-mail about the Beta version of Jasc® Paint Shop™ Pro® 8. He said he downloaded the Beta immediately because he's been fan of Paint Shop Pro for years.

“When I first saw the results, all I could think was 'Wow this is awesome'”

"I've tried to use other digital photography software packages," Marty said. "But I'd open them and not know how to get started. Paint Shop Pro is the easiest, so I stick with it. I like it because I can just jump right in and do what I need."

After trying unsuccessfully to guess at what corrections his vacation photos needed, Marty tried Paint Shop Pro 8's Enhance Photo button. That button launches the One Step Photo Fix, which quickly runs photos through a combination of automatic filters including: Automatic Color Balance, Automatic Contrast Enhancement, Clarify, Automatic Saturation Enhancement, Edge Preserving Smooth, and Sharpen.

"When I first saw the results, all I could think was 'Wow this is awesome,'" he said. Marty ended up using the tool on most of his vacation photos; even the ones he originally thought looked ok. "It cleaned up all the photos automatically - they look so professional."

Now that his vacation photos look so good, Marty said he's going to burn them to CD and proudly show them off to his friends, family, and co-workers.
