Frequently Asked Questions
Slingshot is designed to work with Facebook, combining forces to give you automated photo sharing and free, private, unlimited photo backup on Facebook.
You'll notice when you turn on photo backup (in the Options menu) that your shared photos appear on your Facebook wall. Don't worry—these are only visible to you; visitors to your wall will not see them.
Slingshot remembers the last place you shared your photos, which makes sharing instant when it’s with the same people and/or Facebook albums.
Slingshot enhances your photos by boosting the contrast so your photos look more intense. This especially works well when you photograph objects or landscapes.
Slingshot provides an automatic way to group your family and friends. When you share photos with a set of people for the first time, Slingshot automatically creates a group from that set. Then you can easily select a group (instead of individual contacts) or even select multiple groups to receive your photos. And Slingshot is smart—even if people are included in multiple sharing groups, they’ll only receive the photo once.
By providing your email address and password, you can share photos in a single step because Slingshot remembers your preferences. This is much faster than having to add your recipients each time.
No, Slingshot keeps the distribution list private, so recipients do not see who else is getting the photos you send out.
If you’re currently offline (with no internet connection), the numbers show how many photos are waiting to be shared. Once you have an internet connection again, you’ll see the numbers reduce as each photo gets uploaded. If you’re seeing this number when you think you have an internet connection, simply quit and re-launch Slingshot. Your photos will then start uploading.
Facebook does not support any photos with a resolution higher than 2000 pixels wide or high. We adjust the image size slightly so that your image is as large as possible when backed up or posted to a Facebook album.
This is your private backup album, where copies of your photos are automatically stored. Once you choose any album for backup (like the private, for-your-eyes-only album that Slingshot automatically creates for you), all future photos will be looked after. And you’re in control of your privacy settings.
As soon as you take a picture, your photo is instantly backed up to the designated Facebook album. This happens before you add the caption.
Facebook currently has a limit of 200 photos per album. But Slingshot knows this, so as soon as you reach that limit, Slingshot automatically creates a new Facebook album with the same name but different numbering to help you tell your albums apart. For example: Photo Backup 1, Photo Backup 2, Photo Backup 3, etc.
If you share photos to the same album as you back up to, you’ll have one copy from backing up and another copy from sharing to that album. The typical process is that you post a photo to a public album, and Slingshot automatically puts a copy in your private backup album.
It’s convenient to have all your photos backed up in the same location. However, if you don’t want your photos backed up, it’s easy to turn off this feature. Just go to Settings and select “none” as your Facebook Album backup.
Slingshot doesn’t want anyone to miss out! If the photo sharing process is interrupted due to network issues, Slingshot automatically resends the photos when internet connectivity returns.
No, Slingshot was designed to be fast and easy, so there are no additional tools to slow things down or get in the way when sharing photos.
No, Slingshot currently shares photos only.
Future versions of Slingshot will be able to share photos to different sites, such as Twitter.
