And in case you missed it...

Watch the Sydney Opera House transform into one of the world's most spectacular digital art shows!

On March 20, 2011, world-renowned, live digital painter Andrew 'Android' Jones created a visual masterpiece, using Corel® Painter™ software and a Wacom® pen tablet, in a spectacle that was projected across the bay onto the Sydney Opera House, featuring groundbreaking projection technology from Obscura Digital.

Learn how this remarkable projection was possible.

Android's images moved to the musical backdrop of the 2011 YouTube™ Symphony Orchestra, in concert with award-winning conductor Michael Tilson Thomas.

Android's art traveled half a mile across the bay, fitting itself perfectly to the sails. How was this possible?

Organized by Obscura Digital, this visual spectacle was powered by:

  • Fourteen projectors with long-range optics developed for the Olympics, consisting of:
    • eight 20,000 lumens projectors
    • six 18,000 lumens projectors
  • Six servers to achieve IMAX resolution imagery on the façade.

Prior to the event, Obscura Digital provided the architectural mapping and visual design for both the interior and exterior projections on the Sydney Opera House. As Android worked his artistic magic during the event, they integrated live camera feeds from the concert with elements of Android's artwork, and projected the results for the world to see.
