Depending on customer requirements and industry regulations, documentation may be required in multiple formats, such as printed as PDF or HTML documents, or on CD and/or DVD, as WebCGM or SVG. Create, share and deliver standardized technical documentation with support for a wide variety of technical communication assets and file formats, such as 2D CAD formats, including AutoCAD DXF and DWG, as well as DOCX, XLS, PSD, AI, PDF (including editing), TIFF and Camera RAW. Corel® PowerTRACE® is included with the suite to automatically convert bitmaps, static or legacy designs (such as blueprints) to editable vector graphics for selective updates or modifications of an entire schematic.

Optional support for 3D CAD
Work with the latest 3D CAD file formats using XVL Studio 3D CAD Corel Edition (available as an optional add-on). With this add-on, you can open and work with native 3D CAD files from manufacturing design systems such as CATIA, PTC Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER), SolidWorks, NX and more. To increase productivity without sacrificing accuracy, Corel DESIGNER’s projected drawing modes represent 3D objects in two dimensions (i.e., isometric views) based on predefined drawing profiles. This makes it easy to add context and detail to 3D imports. The objects or graphics are clear and easily readable and do not require 3D constructions, distortions and rotations or intricate 2D transformations.

Dynamic callouts and hotspots
Callouts are essential when you need to convey and track crucial information in your technical drawings, such as part numbers, dimensions, product information and more. CorelDRAW Technical Suite lets you easily create and modify callouts and dimension lines. By automatically adding a halo to a callout, you can create a mask behind the leader line to easily display callouts on top of other objects. The automatic increment of numbered callouts supports renumbering, helping you to automatically adjust the numbering of callouts throughout an illustration when parts change. With dynamic callouts, updating or modifying callout text is effortless because changes to the source object properties are automatically reflected in the object’s callout text.

Apply manual hotspots to complete callout objects, including leader line and surrounding halo, to make the entire callout interactive. This lets you trace interactive drawings with links to documents, part lists, ordering information and other external systems and publish them in the required formats (WebCGM, SVG, HTML, and PDF).

To a technical illustrator, precision and clarity are everything. Approximation is not an option as all objects must be perfectly aligned and clearly understandable. With your hectic schedule, you cannot afford to double-check object positioning by zooming in and out. Geared for precision, CorelDRAW Technical Suite delivers gravity snapping to precise coordinates, dynamic alignment guides and object coordinate drawing—features that help you draw and position objects accurately the first time. Dedicated tools for drawing threads and wells and the 2-point-line tools will help you easily add missing detail to drawings.

Support for multiple formats
CorelDRAW Technical Suite supports PDF output for online, print and archiving as ISO standard PDF/A. With the optional XVL Studio 3D CAD, you can also output 3D models as XVL for online and mobile view, or to U3D files (for inserting in 3D PDF), making it easy to share 3D models with colleagues and clients. Enhanced industry standards compliance means you can deliver standardized technical documentation in leading formats, including WebCGM 2.x, SVG, including automated SVG export and more. The suite also supports the S1000D standard, a key standard for facilitating the creation, interchange and delivery of technical communications among manufacturers, partners, suppliers, government departments and other organizations in the aerospace and defense industries.

Integrated Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications and Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications automation interfaces let you create custom connections to Content Management Systems (CMS), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) Systems to support versioning, preview creation and more. New native 64-bit support delivers dramatically faster performance when working with this powerful automation applications.

In technical documentation, visuals such as graphics or images must often be linked to other elements like text. Text-editing programs, such as Microsoft Word or XML-based authoring applications (such asXMetaL or Adobe FrameMaker), are capable of embedding and reproducing illustrations as SVG, CGM, PDF or TIFF. CorelDRAW Technical Suite supports more than 100 standard import and export filters, including aerospace and automotive industry standard formats such as CGM (including S1000D, WebCGM 2.x, ActiveCGM and ATA GREX) and SVG. Using Corel DESIGNER, you can also import and export to various bitmap formats (including CCITT TIFF G4, GIF, JPEG, PNG, CPT, PSD), plus open and edit PDF files.

Migration support for InterCAP products

CorelDRAW Technical Suite derives some of its technical illustration features from Mondello and ActiveCGM Author (formerly InterCAP). Optimized for Windows 64-bit with state-of-the-art technology, Corel offers to Mondello NT licensed customers a Professional Services option that makes it possible for this suite to import Mondello files (*.dwg). Mondello file conversion allows the reuse of drawings contained within these files and creates access to support for current industry standards. Corel has refined this conversion tool, making it possible to import special file attributes and metadata thanks to its extended compatibility.

ActiveCGM files can be opened in Corel DESIGNER X6 directly without any additional migration utility needed.
