"Corel Digital Art Competition 2009" Terms and Conditions

  1. Eligibility
    Anyone who is a resident of Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, India and the countries of Southeastern Asia is qualified to register and participate this competition. Employees, representatives and agents of Corel Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates (“Corel”) are ineligible to participate.

  2. Contestant’s Personal Information
    When registering, Contestants shall provide true and correct personal data. In the event the personal data are false or incorrect, contestants will lose the chance to win prizes and/or be requested to return any prizes.

  3. General Information
    ( a ) The contestant shall guarantee the originality of his/her own artwork which should be an artwork that was never displayed publicly before, and he/she must use Corel software to complete the artwork. No infringement of any third party’s intellectual property rights or any other rights is permitted. Performance and display of the artwork shall not violate public order, exceed the bounds decency accepted by society and shall not depict any behavior prohibited by laws.
    ( b ) The contestant shall strictly comply with local laws. In order to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and the rules of this competition, Corel reserves the right to review and verify uploaded artworks.

  4. Intellectual Property Rights
    In terms of intellectual property rights pertaining to artworks (including but not limited to copyright, patent application right, etc.), Corel and contestant agree as follows:
    ( a ) All contestants in this competition irrevocably grant to Corel the perpetual, non-exclusive and royalty-free right to use, distribute, display and demonstrate their artworks for marketing promotion purposes. Contestants agree that Corel may disguise the names of constants at its discretion when using the artworks.
    ( b ) During the period of the competition, Corel has the right to duplicate the artworks in small quantity for reasonable purposes.
    ( c ) To the extent permitted by law, Corel is entitled and retains the right to interpret the rules of this competition.

  5. Prize Awarding and Tax Information
    ( a ) The prize cannot be transferred or substituted and must be accepted as awarded. The winner is responsible for any taxes payable on the prize. The winner agrees to provide any necessary documents to meet the requests of verification from tax authorities. The winner also agrees to provide any necessary personal data for Corel to deal with matters of winning and prize-delivering.
    ( b ) The winner list will be posted on Corel’s website at www.corel.com/apac-contest. Winners will be notified by email individually. Return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in forfeiture of prize and selection of an alternate winner at the sole discretion of Corel. Please allow 8-10 weeks for prize delivery.
    ( c ) The Corel software provided in all the prizes is the Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) version, which requires an Internet connection for download and activation.
    ( d ) Corel reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal value if the prize listed is no longer available.

  6. Privacy Policy
    Information collected from contestants is subject to Corel’s Privacy Policy located at www.corel.com/privacy. As a condition of entering the competition, all contestants consent to the use of their personal information as aforesaid.

  7. Corel reserves the right to change these competition rules or cancel the competition at any time at its sole discretion.
